The Gophers continue to load their receiving corps with elite talent

Gopher Sports

Well, Missouri athlete Itayvion Brown was able to sit atop for the Minnesota Golden Gophers’ current recruiting class for about a week. But head coach P.J. Fleck’s 2020 recruiting class has a new top-ranked recruit in the form of four-star Kansas wide receiver Daniel Jackson.

Scouting Report

Jackson is an explosive wide receiver who racked up 54 receptions, 1,270 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns as a high school sophomore. He runs a 4.5 40 and posted a 38-inch vertical, but you don’t need athletic testing to understand what a nightmare he is to cover as a defensive back. Just watch his film and you’ll quickly realize what Jackson brings to a vertical passing game. He is a deep threat who can create separation at the line of scrimmage with his initial foot quickness and releases or leave defensive backs trailing behind him in and out of breaks. Put simply, Jackson is a playmaker and he has a bright future with wide receivers coach Matt Simon.
