It’s been awhile since the Minnesota Golden Gophers landed about a dozen verbal commitments in the span of two weeks, but the drought is over as head coach P.J. Fleck and co. have scored a verbal commitment from Ohio athlete Miles Fleming.

Scouting Report
Fleming is an “athlete” in every sense of the word. He plays quarterback at the high school level, but possesses the athleticism necessary to play almost anywhere on the field. The primary knock against Fleming is that he is undersized at 5’11”, but his legit 4.4 speed can go a long way toward compensating for that. Minnesota is recruiting him as a cornerback, and he certainly has the speed, burst, and hips to be a difference maker in the secondary. But he’ll need to add strength before he is ready to match up with Big Ten receivers.
247 Sports’ Bill Greene named Fleming as his overall MVP at the annual Best of Midwest Combine back in April. His words: “Columbus (Ohio) Bishop Hartley athlete Miles Fleming began his day with a 4.46 40-yard dash, among the fastest of the day before throwing a consistent and accurate football going through position drills and 1-on-1s. Fleming then used his speed to torch defensive backs and projects as a receiver or cornerback on the next level.”
