Minnesota Basketball: Daniel Oturu wins Big Ten Player of the Week

Gopher Sophomore, Daniel Oturu was the Big Ten’s best player last week

NCAA Basketball: Michigan at Minnesota David Berding-USA TODAY Sports

Daniel Oturu had an incredible week while facing two of the Big Ten’s best teams. The Gopher sophomore averaged 26 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last week in key Big Ten games.

  • 22 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks at Michigan State
  • 30 points, 7 rebounds against Michigan

This was the 2nd time Oturu has won a Big Ten Player of the Week award, last winning it at the end of December.

But we should take a moment to recognize the type of season Oturu is having. Currently he is the best big man in the Big Ten and is averaging just under 20 points and 12 rebounds per game. If he keeps up this season he will be in the conversation for some All-American teams.

His development as a sophomore has been tremendous and his season is one we should all be appreciating.
