Sanford is hired away from Utah State where he was the OC for 2019 but was previously a head coach at Western Kentucky and has served as an assistant at Notre Dame, Boise State and Stanford.
Sanford will presumably also serve at the team’s quarterback coach as he played QB for Boise in college and he was the OC/QB coach at Notre Dame and Boise before taking the Western Kentucky head job for 2 years.
Also notable that Matt Simon has been promoted to co-offensive coordinator. How these responsibilities are going to be split up is TBD but Simon certainly earned the promotion, even if just in title.
More to come on this important hire for PJ Fleck.
