Welcome to success Tyler Johnson

Week 5 in the NFL has come and gone, and we finally got to see the Tyler Johnson we all knew could thrive in the NFL. Hopefully he gets more run going forward. Here is our recap of how the former Minnesota Golden Gophers performed in Week 5 in the NFL and a look ahead to Week 6.

Maxx Williams— Tight End— Arizona Cardinals

Week 5 @ New York Jets

Week 6 @ Dallas Cowboys (MNF)

Maxx missed his third of three mandated games on IR for the Cardinals this week with an ankle injury. He apparently is still a few weeks away from returning as he may be due back around the Cardinals bye week in week 8.

De’Vondre Campbell—Linebacker—Arizona Cardinals

Week 5 @ New York Jets

Week 6 @ Dallas Cowboys (MNF)

Campbell played all 69 defensive snaps for Arizona and led Arizona with eight solo tackles and one assisted tackle in their win over the Jets.

Chris Streveler-QB-Arizona Cardinals

Week 5 @ New York Jets

Week 6 @ Dallas Cowboys (MNF)

For the third week in a row we did not get to see a trick play with Streveler in the game for Arizona. He remains the backup QB.

Eric Murray-Safety Houston Texans

Week 5 vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 6 @ Tennessee Titans

Murray played all 75 defensive snaps for the Texans and recorded three solo tackles and three assisted tackles as the Texans picked up their first win of the season over Jacksonville.

Damien Wilson—Linebacker—Kansas City Chiefs

Week 4 vs New England Patriots

Week 5 vs Las Vegas Raiders

Week 6 @ Buffalo Bills (Monday afternoon football??)

Wilson played 60 snaps for the Chiefs as they took their first loss on the season to the Raiders last Sunday. KC will now play Buffalo on Monday afternoon in a game that got moved from Thursday to Monday due to Buffalo not playing until last Tuesday. Got all that?

Blake Cashman—Linebacker—New York Jets

Week 5 vs Arizona Cardinals

Week 6 @ Miami Dolphins

Cashman is back to practicing for the Jets but has not yet been added to the active roster. It’s possible that move could come before this Sunday’s game at Miami.

Antoine Winfield Jr. —Safety—Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 5 @ Chicago Bears (TNF)

Week 6 vs Green Bay Packers

Winfield played 62 snaps for Tampa as they lost a heartbreaker to the Bears in Chicago last Thursday night. Winfield recorded four solo tackles, one assisted tackle and added a pass defense as well.

He continues to shine in his rookie season as Pro Football Focus currently has him ranked as the top defensive rookie in the NFL.

Tyler Johnson-WR-Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Week 5 @ Chicago Bears (TNF)

Week 6 vs Green Bay Packers

Oh hey there Tyler. Welcome to success at the next level. With several of the other Bics wide outs sidelined with injuries Tyler Johnson started his first NFL game on Thursday night and lived up to expectations. Johnson led the Buccaneers with four catches for 61 yards on six targets from Tom Brady. Unfortunately the Bucs came up short. Hopefully Tyler can keep earning more playing time as the Bucs host Green Bay this weekend.

Carter Coughlin-LB-New York Giants

Week 5 @ Dallas Cowboys

Week 6 vs Washington Football Team

Coughlin a week after sitting out Coughlin played 24 special teams snaps for the Giants in their loss to Dallas Sunday. Hopefully with Coughlin now on every special teams grouping it means he is earning more time each week.

Additions!! We Got Additions!

Kamal Martin-LB-Green Bay Packers

Week 6 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Martin looked like he was going to be the Week 1 starter at linebacker for Green Bay before suffering a meniscus injury. He was put on IR and has yet to play this season. Well, Green Bay has activated Martin to begin practicing and he has a very strong chance to be added to the active roster and make his NFL debut Sunday in Tampa against fellow Minnesota rookies Tyler Johnson and Antoine Winfield, Jr. Heck of a reunion!

Rodney Smith—RB—Carolina Panthers

After the Panthers had another running back get injured on top of missing stud Christian McCaffery for the last few weeks, the Panthers needed to sign one. Who did they sign? Well someone who was with them early in training camp—former Gopher Rodney Smith! Rodney was officially added to the Panthers practice squad on Tuesday and can hopefully work his way into the lineup at some point this season.
