Minnesota ranked No. 21 in Coaches Poll and AP Top 25

The battle for the Little Brown Jug will be a Top 25 showdown

The Minnesota Golden Gophers will open their season ranked No. 21 in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25. Michigan moved up to No. 17 in the Coaches Poll and No. 18 in the AP Top 25, securing a Top 25 matchup for when the two programs meet in primetime for Saturday’s season opener at TCF Bank Stadium. The Little Brown Jug game has not featured two ranked teams since 2004, wen Minnesota and Michigan were ranked No. 13 and No. 14, respectively.

Three other Big Ten teams will be ranked to start the season. In the Coaches Poll, Ohio State checked in at No. 5, Penn State at No. 7, and Wisconsin at No. 14. In the AP Top 25, Ohio State will start the season at No. 5, Penn State at No. 8, and Wisconsin at No. 14.
