Minnesota Football vs Maryland Terrapins: Staff Predictions

Hoping for better as the Gophers hit the road

Bad news! Pretty much everyone — with one exception — was wrong last week, and the shellacking from Michigan seems to have shaken the confidence of a few of our contributors. The good news: The season goes on, which is more than Wisconsin and Nebraska can say this week. Hard to believe the Huskers’ unconquerable will could be conquered, but here we are.

The Predictions

This Week’s Thoughts

GoAUpher: Maryland is bad.

GopherNation: Defense still gives up a plenty of points, but this isn’t terribly close.

gopherguy05: Maryland is not great. Gophers still working on things. but offense gets clicking this week to negate defensive woes

Blake Ruane: I defer to my opponent preview.

Ustreet: I do not defer to the pessimism of the opponent preview

zipsofakron: Gophers fall behind after the first drive but recover for a rout. At least that’s what I’m telling myself because I can’t cope with the idea of losing to a team Northwestern beat by 40.

mowe0018: I’m not superstitious... but I am a littlestitious. I picked the Gophers to win last week. To quote Confucius, probably, “Pride cometh before the fall.” With Confucius and Michael Scott in mind, I will pick the Gophers to lose every game until they, in fact, lose. Their success comes before mine, always.

HipsterGopher: Normally I pick these games by taking a score from a previous matchup. But I think this game will be high scoring, on both sides. So I had to combine the high scores from the Minnesota’s win over Maryland in 2019, and the Terrapins’ 2018 victory.

Season “Records” So Far

GopherNation: 1-0

Everyone else: 0-1

Asked for a quote on how it feels to be the only member of the staff to be 1-0 to start the season, GopherNation said, “I don’t know what to say.”

It is good to be the king:
