TURTLE! TURTLE! TURTLE!

You’ll recall last week that GoAUpher failed to provide us with a pre-game haiku or his traditional Gnome #Takes. As a result, Minnesota lost to Michigan. And I regret to inform you that he has forsaken us again this week, almost certainly dooming the Gophers against Maryland. Please proceed to flood his inbox with hate mail. What self-respecting college football fan plans a fall wedding, anyway? I hope he can turn things around soon.

Anyway, now we turn our attention to the turtles.

Keys to the game

  • Stop the run. For the love of God, stop the run.
  • Give the ball to Mohamed Ibrahim and co. Northwestern gashed Maryland for 325 rushing yards a week ago. Ibrahim should be champing at the bit to get the ball against the Terps, but the Gophers also need to keep some tread on his tires and try to get Treyson Potts, Cam Wiley, and Bryce Williams going on the ground.
  • Win the turnover battle. Minnesota did not force a turnover against Michigan. That needs to change going forward. Give the offense a short field for a change.

How afraid am I?

On a scale of 3 to 5 “Brewsters on his face” (1 being not a afraid, 5 being very afraid):

As I said last week, I do not have GoAUpher’s photo editing skills, so please close your eyes and imagine that the photo above features three Brewsters face-planted onto the turf. I’m probably more worried about the Minnesota defense than the Maryland offense, if that makes sense. I implore you to put my concerns at ease, Joe Rossi.

Prediction

Maryland 35 - Minnesota 32
