Week 9 saw the return of one Gopher from IR and a return to the end zone! It also saw one player miss his game due to Covid contract tracing. The highs and the lows of this 2020 season. Here is our recap of how the former Minnesota Golden Gophers performed in Week 8 in the NFL and a look ahead to Week 9.
Maxx Williams— Tight End— Arizona Cardinals
Week 9 vs Miami Dolphins
Week 10 vs Buffalo Bills
Maxx is back! The former Gopher tight end was activated off of IR and started for the Cardinals in their 34-31 loss to Miami. Maxx played 34 snaps in the game and caught his one target, a four yard pass from Kyler Murray that Maxx stretched over the goal line for a touchdown! Williams missed practice on Wednesday for Arizona so hopefully they are just giving his still injured ankle time to recover and he will be on the field against the Bills on Sunday

De’Vondre Campbell—Linebacker—Arizona Cardinals
Week 9 vs Miami Dolphins
Week 10 vs Buffalo Bills
Campbell played well for Arizona in their loss. He played all 61 defensive snaps and recorded six tackles, including a QB sack and a tackle for a loss.
Chris Streveler-QB-Arizona Cardinals
Week 9 vs Miami Dolphins
Week 10 vs Buffalo Bills
Streveler once again was on the bench as the backup QB for Arizona.
Eric Murray-Safety Houston Texans
Week 9 @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Week 10 @ Cleveland Browns
Murray played all 69 defensive snaps for the Texans and recorded a pair of solo tackles and an assisted tackle in Houston’s win. He and the Texans head to Cleveland this week for a game against his former team.
Damien Wilson—Linebacker—Kansas City Chiefs
Week 9 vs Carolina Panthers
Week 10 BYE
Wilson played 38 defensive snaps for the Chiefs in their win over Carolina. Wilson recorded two tackles in the game.
Blake Cashman—Linebacker—New York Jets
Week 9 vs New England Patriots (MNF)
Week 10 BYE
Cashman was inactive for the Jets heartbreaking loss to the Patriots on Monday Night Football
Antoine Winfield Jr. —Safety—Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 9 vs New Orleans Saints (SNF)
Week 10 @ Carolina Panthers
The Bucs played their worst game of the season last Sunday night getting blown out by the Saints. Winfield played 71 defensive snaps and recorded three solo tackles and four assisted tackles. Just an typical game for one of the leading candidates for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Tyler Johnson-WR-Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 9 vs New Orleans Saints (SNF)
Week 10 @ Carolina Panthers
Tyler Johnson is the player who will most likely suffer the most with the signing of Antoinio Brown in Tampa. Johnson went from over thirty snaps two weeks ago to just six last week. He caught his one target from Tom Brady for an 11 yard gain. With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin healthy and Brown stepping in—it’s going to be a fight for TJ to get targets down the stretch.
Carter Coughlin-LB-New York Giants
Week 9 @ Washington Football Team
Week 10 vs Philadelphia Eagles
Coughlin once again only played four snaps on defense and some special teams but did not record any stats in the game against WFT.
Kamal Martin-LB-Green Bay Packers
Week 9 @ San Francisco 49ers (TNF)
Week 10 vs Jacksonville Jaguars
Martin missed the Packers blowout win over San Francisco as a casualty of contract tracing for COVID due to his close contact with Packers rookie running back AJ Dillon who tested positive. Martin is back at practice for Green Bay and should be activated off of the COVID/Reserve list in time to return and start for the Packers on Sunday against the Jags.
