Week 8 saw a trio of Gophers shining bright under the lights in NYC and more of the same from the Gopher defensive vets—well those who weren’t on bye this week at least. Here is our recap of how the former Minnesota Golden Gophers performed in Week 8 in the NFL and a look ahead to Week 9.
Maxx Williams— Tight End— Arizona Cardinals
Week 8 Bye
Week 9 vs Miami Dolphins
Maxx is almost back! Arizona activated him from IR this week and he now has 21 days to practice before the Cardinals have to put him on the 53-man roster. He may be back against the Dolphins this week even!
De’Vondre Campbell—Linebacker—Arizona Cardinals
Week 8 Bye
Week 9 vs Miami Dolphins
Bye week
Chris Streveler-QB-Arizona Cardinals
Week 8 Bye
Week 9 vs Miami Dolphins
Bye week
Eric Murray-Safety Houston Texans
Week 8 Bye
Week 9 @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Bye
Damien Wilson—Linebacker—Kansas City Chiefs
Week 8 vs New York Jets
Week 9 vs Carolina Panthers
Wilson played 34 defensive snaps for the Chiefs in their easy win over the Jets. He recorded six solo tackles and added an assisted tackle in the win.
Blake Cashman—Linebacker—New York Jets
Week 7 vs Buffalo Bills
Week 8 @ Kansas City Chiefs
Week 9 vs New England Patriots (MNF)
Cashman played only on special teams against KC and did not record any stats in their loss.
Antoine Winfield Jr. —Safety—Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 8 @ New York Giants (MNF)
Week 9 vs New Orleans Saints (SNF)
Winfield played all 73 defensive snaps in the Buccaneers win over the Giants last Monday night football. He recorded six solo tackles, one assisted tackle and made a game saving play on what would have been a game-typing two-point conversion attempt by the Giants with under a minute to play. It looked eerily familiar to the two plays he made against Fresno State over the last few years.
Antoine Winfield Jr. fought through traffic at the goal line to track down a motioning Dion Lewis across the formation and break up the Giants two-point conversion attempt.

Tyler Johnson-WR-Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 8 @ New York Giants (MNF)
Week 9 vs New Orleans Saints (SNF)
Tyler Johnson played 35 snaps for Tampa with Chris Goodwin out with an injury and while he didn’t catch a touchdown for the third consecutive week he still hauled in two passes for 35 yards on two targets in the win.
Carter Coughlin-LB-New York Giants
Week 8 vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers(MNF)
Week 9 @ Washington Football Team
Coughlin only played four snaps on defense for the Giants in their narrow loss to Tampa, but he made the most of one of them recording his first career NFL sack on Tom Brady!

Kamal Martin-LB-Green Bay Packers
Week 8 vs Minnesota Vikings
Week 9 @ San Francisco 49ers (TNF)
Kamal played 42 defensive snaps in his second career NFL game against the Vikings and recorded one solo tackle and two assisted tackles—all of Dalvin Cook in the Packers shocking loss to Minnesota.
Martin will unfortunately miss this Thursday’s game in San Francisco as he was added the the Packers COVID-Reserve list on Monday. Martin is a close contact of fellow Packer rookie AJ Dillon who tested positive for Covid on Monday and will also miss the game. Martin is required to miss at least five days of participation and if he continues to test negative will be activated for the Packers Week 10 game.
