If you’re looking for four stars or even a handful of Power 5 scholarship offers, move along. This is a scholarship for an in-state recruit based purely on size and potential. Offensive line coach Brian Callahan loves huge offensive tackles — from the 6’6”, 325-lb. Sam Schlueter to the 6’9”, 400-lb. Daniel Faalele — and Purcell fits the bill at 6’7”, although he is lean for an offensive lineman at 245 lbs. and will need to bulk up in the weight room when he gets to Minnesota. He has played on both sides of the ball in high school, alternating between offensive tackle and defensive end, and is also a basketball player, suggesting he possesses good athleticism for a person of his size.
