Covid has pretty much won everything. Minnesota has joined the two timers club along with Maryland and Wisconsin. Now Michigan is trying to spoil Ohio State’s season and the Big Ten is going to need to figure out how to try and change the rules for them. It’s this fun?
Here is how I see both the East and West divisions breaking down and then at the bottom I’ll rank all 14 teams in one list.
Big Ten West:
#1 Northwestern Wildcats
Northwestern got an unofficial bye this week thanks to Minnesota’s COVID woes. They get what should be an easy game against Illinois before a Big Ten Championship game tilt against
Indiana. Ohio State?
Iowa keeps beating teams they should after a win over Illinois. Wisconsin may be a bit of a test though?
Wisconsin struggled and lost to an Indiana team with a backup quarterback at home. Never fails this is the year they probably won’t play Minnesota.
Do they belong here? I have no idea. After two weeks off they look like they will play Nebraska this week but will be missing over 20 players. Why are we doing this again?
The win over Penn State is looking better, but the win over Purdue looks to be nothing special. They may get win #3 this week over a very shorthanded Gopher team.
Illinois lost to Iowa but it wasn’t too ugly. So they got that going for them.
Purdue might only be a COVID stoppage from losing six games in a row to end the year. In either case it will be at least four losses in a row.
Big Ten East
Ohio State is the best team in the conference, but might get screwed due to the 6 game rule. We will see soon if the Big Ten will change the rules to help them but screw Indiana.
Indiana is the second best team in the conference even with a backup qb. But now THEY appear to have COVID issues so the Old Oaken Bucket game is probably off and it might give the Big Ten the window they need to allow OSU back to Indy.
Blown out by OSU but still get the #3 spot.
Another missed game due to COVID for Maryland, but this time it was Michigan’s fault.
Don’t look now but Penn State finally figured some things out.
A loss to Penn State looks better than it did 3 weeks ago...but it still isn’t great.
COVID might give the Wolverines some mercy...
