Please forgive my tardiness in reporting this, but last week head coach P.J. Fleck and co. earned a verbal commitment from Illinois tight end prospect Jameson Geers.

Scouting Report
Geers is a well-rounded tight end. He has a good frame, but will obviously need to add strength at the college level. His effort is solid as a blocker, and I would expect that to improve as he gets stronger and grows into his frame. I realize that the Gophers have rarely featured their tight ends in the passing game, but that may change under their new co-offensive coordinators, especially with what Geers brings to the table as a pass catcher. He has reliable hands, can make catches in traffic and away from his body, and is an effective route runner, especially for someone who does not possess blazing speed. Geers also has a solid length and catch radius.
