With the 218th pick in the 7th round, the New York Giants selected former Minnesota Golden Gophers rush end Carter Coughlin in the NFL Draft. Coughlin becomes the fourth Gopher to hear his name called in the 2020 NFL Draft matching 2001, 2006 and 2015 as the fourth time four Gophers have been drafted in the 2000s.

How Does He Fit
Coughlin heads to a Giants team in flux with new head coach Joe Judge who was the Patriot’s special teams coach before that, so he should know how to put Coughlin to good use right away. Whether Carter can earn a major defensive roll is yet to be determined, but as a tweener it will be all about scheme fit.
