Johnson finished last season with 15.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game as a junior for the Broncos, finishing 11th and 8th respectively in the MAC. He started all games as a true freshman, started 29 games as a sophomore while increasing his production, was for his third season and then had a really nice junior year. But now he wanted to transfer our for his senior season and has decided to be a Gopher.

Cincinnati, UConn and Dayton were also heavily pursuing Johnson.

What does he mean to the Gophers?

Well Richard Pitino lost his starting center and starting power forward from this past season. He now has replaced both of them with the additions of Liam Robbins and now Johnson.

This is a really nice addition for Minnesota who now has some frontcourt depth to go with the backcourt that is presumably returning basically everyone (assuming Marcus Carr does not enter the NBA Draft). I was rather nervous about the frontcourt heading into the 2020-21 season, adding Robbins and Johnson makes me feel much better.
