Minnesota Football Recruiting: Three-star DB Darius Green commits to the Gophers

The Peach State is sending one of their best north to Minneapolis

Gopher Sports

You know the drill by now: Global pandemic, NCAA restrictions on recruiting, P.J. Fleck and co. can’t stop and won’t stop, new verbal commitment. The latest to pledge to play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers is Georgia defensive back Darius Green.

Not enough internet recruiting services have had a chance to evaluate and rate Green, so he does not yet have a 247 Sports Composite Rating.

Scouting Report

Green is a defensive back who has been asked to cover a lot of ground at the high school level, from lining up in the box to playing man coverage over the slot receiver. He has acquitted himself well in each role, showing the tackling and physicality needed to be effective in run support and the ability to diagnose plays quickly in coverage and jump routes. And Green ran a 6.49 in the 60 and 10.62 in the 100-meter dash, per 247 Sports. As always seem to be the case, his technique could use some work, but his I.Q. and instincts will serve him well in making the leap to college.
