I seem to write at least a couple sentences in every post about how Covid has affected things one way or another over the last few months. Which deserves a collective and thundering, “DUH!” Recruiting is dramatically different, there are no real sports outside of Korean baseball (Go LG Twins), fall sports are certainly in jeopardy and I’m losing my freaking mind! (Sorry, you can ignore that last one)
But since the day basketball died on March 11th (when the Gophers finished tied for the Big Ten Tournament Championship), we have mostly been confined to our homes. Venturing out into the rest of the world has been occurring more and more in the past month, but for the most part Mother Nature has put us in a time out for 3+ months.
With this time, it would seem like the perfect opportunity to do things around your home, write that novel, publish more blog posts (LOL) or enjoy precious time with your children. But really, many of us watched a lot of shows. Some enjoyed re-watching old shows and many started knocking shows off their list.
This feels like a worthwhile endeavor to publish what I’ve been watching and anxiously await what you’ve been watching in the comments. Potentially other TDG contributors will also put their lists out, but here is what I’ve consumed since mid-March
Working from home, managing school for 3 kids throughout the spring and just the general day-to-day things to take care of typically left me with time at the end of the night for 1 or 2 shows before bed. So traditional “binging” of a show wasn’t really in the cards for me. But 3 or 4 months of watching a 1 show per night (and a couple on Saturday mornings before kids woke up) is still time to get through a lot.
Watched without shame
- The Wire - HBO
Yes, the one from the early 2000s. Back in the day I watched Sopranos and I’ve watched other HBO series, but never got around to The Wire.
- The Last Dance - ESPN
Reliving all those old series rooting against all things Bulls.
- Tiger King - Netflix
This was a Quarantine right of passage for everyone, wasn’t it? Are there any redeeming qualities about anyone on this show? Not remotely. Is it really good? Not really. Can you avert your eyes? Nope.
- Ozarks - Netflix
See comment about redeeming qualities above.
- Hamilton - Disney+
I kind of a Broadway fan and was VERY excited that Disney+ put this out there for me over the weekend.
Don’t judge me
- Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - Amazon
- Cheer - Netflix
The same people who brought you Last Chance U, look at competitive cheering.
- Californication - Hulu
Actually not quite finished, but I’m getting through these quickly.
- Disney princes movies - Disney+
Going through these with my daughter.
Next up on my list
- The Great - Hulu
- I need a recommendation
