Minnesota Men’s Basketball game against Nebraska postponed

NCAA Basketball: Minnesota at Iowa Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota’s next game against Nebraska has been postponed.

Fred Hoiberg announced on Sunday that he’s tested positive for COVID-19. We wish Coach Hoiberg and any other Nebraska players who have tested positive a speedy and healthy recovery. The Cornhuskers have been on pause due to coronavirus for a week, and such a pause does not seem likely to end for some time. If it was possible to forget, we continue to be in a pandemic and the health and safety of students, coaches, and associated staff is always more important than any game.

With this decision, Minnesota is now not scheduled to play until Saturday. They will remain in Minneapolis and face Maryland at the Barn. The Terrapins on paper present a tougher challenge than the Cornhuskers.

The Big Ten has claimed previously that postponements would be replayed at later dates because unlike the football season, basketball has more lag time and greater availability at the end of the season.
