Michigan State is the highest ranked Big Ten team at No. 3, with Ohio State and Michigan not far behind at No. 5 and No. 7, respectively. The next highest-ranked Big Ten team? Minnesota at No. 20, ahead of its chief competition in the Big Ten West: Wisconsin (No. 21) and Iowa (No. 22). The most glaring omission, of course, is Penn State. The Nittany Lions have lost three straight games to drop their record to 5-3. Those losses have come against Iowa, Illinois, and Ohio State, but Penn State also has wins over Wisconsin and Auburn, both of whom are ranked in the Top 25.
Minnesota being ranked and Penn State being snubbed has led to no shortage of reminders that the Gophers lost to a Bowling Green team with a sub-.500 record.
Should have lost to Bowling Green instead. https://t.co/9UPOiDKZSG
