Minnesota Gophers Football vs. Illinois Fighting Illini: Predictions

Four Big Ten wins in a row. #20 in the College Football Playoff rankings. And Illinois is in town. You know what to do Gophers.

The predictions

This week’s thoughts

Blake: See my opponent preview.

GoAUpher: Minnesota continues to run the ball successfully while Tanner Morgan continues to execute when called upon. Illinois isn’t good enough to match that. Another game where it is never in doubt, but the big lead gets opened up late when the Gophers finish grinding the Illini into dust.

gopherguy05: Why stop making roughly the same prediction now...

GopherNation: This is the one where we struggle a little before the Iowa game.

HipsterGopher: On October 9th, 2010, Bielema, then the Wisconsin Badgers coach went for two up 41-16. Since he’s now at Illinois i’d like to see Bielema get beat by the same score as the final from 2010. NOTE: Hipster’s bit is that he picks using scores from previous matchups.

mowe0018: Illinois is all over the place this year and it has been a pattern in the past to see underwhelming score lines. The game is much more comfortable for Gopher fans than the score would indicate.

UStreet: In lieu of predicting scores, I’m offering the fan base a sure fire way to prove I have no idea what I’m talking about. We invested $100 in Goldy bucks and each week I’m betting $7.69 a week on a prediction. Comment whether you agree with or want to fade my bet and we will keep track of who is smarter: the commentariat or me. It’ll be you.

Minnesota gets 2 TD’s on the ground.

White Speed Receiver: Illinois is worse than Northwestern.

wildcat00: This should be an easy one, but I remember saying that in 2014 too. Sigh.

zipsofakron: This is like Succession where Logan keeps promising Shiv that she’ll be running Waystar soon and she continues to believe him. The whole time I’m yelling at the screen “how can you keep trusting this guy when all he has ever done is let you down!”

Post your score predictions in the comments, and don’t forget to bet with or against UStreet!
