With the flurry of players entering the transfer portal, Ben Johnson has been very busy making sure he can assemble a full roster for 2021-22. He received his third transfer commitment last week when EJ Stephens announced that he will be coming to the Gophers.

EJ Stephens
Ht: 6’3”
Wt: 176
High School: Saint Thomas Aquinas (FL)
A four-year contributor to the Leopards, Stephens earned himself 2nd Team All-Patriot League this past year. As a senior he finished with 16.4 points per game, which was good for 7th best in the conference. Over his last 2 seasons he played over 30 minutes per game and shot over 32% from three and 88% from the free throw line.
Interestingly, Stephens played over 30 minutes per game and was the team’s 2nd leading scorer but came off the bench this past season. Listening to interviews, he seemed very comfortable trusting the coach staff’s plan and doing what he needed to do to help his team win.
Stephens brings a much needed guard to the roster. With Mashburn, Tre Williams, Carr, and Gabe Kalscheur entering the portal; the Gophers are in need of guards on the roster. Stephens will get the opportunity for plenty of minutes at the point and shooting guard.
