The Minnesota Golden Gophers may have taken the loss in their season opener Thursday night, but P.J. Fleck and co. are likely celebrating a win today with a verbal pledge from four-star wide receiver Anthony Brown. The Ohio prospect is the first 2023 recruit to commit to the Gophers.

Scouting Report
As a sophomore last season, Brown recorded 40 receptions for 829 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Though he is a bit undersized, he is everything you’d want from a big play wide receiver. Brown has speed to burn, reportedly running a sub-4.6 40 on the camp circuit this summer. Capable of scoring from anywhere on the field, he has lined up both on the outside and in the slot and shown the ability to create separation as a route runner. Brown can take the top off the defense and make plays down field or he can find the crease in coverage on short and intermediate passes and make defenders miss after the catch. This is an outstanding addition to the Gophers’ already talented wide receiver room.
