Huge thanks to my coaches, and family for supporting and helping me throughout this journey!!@GopherMBB #Gophers @CoachBenJohnson @CoachMJenks @PLUTOBasketball pic.twitter.com/w2Ymb5O1LU
Betts has some familiarity with Minnesota and was here on a visit this spring when his AAU team was playing in Minneapolis. He has family in the Minneapolis and the Brainerd area, so making the move to Minnesota for his collegiate career is not a stretch.
But what do we know about this young man?
Kadyn Betts
Pos: SF/PF
Ht: 6’8”
Wt: 190
The kid is rated by 247 Sports as the 3rd best player in the state of Colorado and the 65th best small forward in the country. Betts led his Pueblo Central team to the state semi-finals this past season before falling to eventual champ, Lewis-Palmer.
Checking out online highlight reels, Betts appears to be very comfortable with the ball in his hands, cuts well without the ball and is a decent shooter for a 6’8” forward.
We will learn more about Betts and what he’ll bring to the Gopher program in the coming months.
Currently the staff will have 3 remaining scholarships for the 2023 class. Point guard is clearly a top priority and likely needing more front court help will be on the wishlist as well.
10 minutes of video of PLUTO taking on D1 Minnesota in May.
