On July 1st the Gopher staff received their first commitment to the 2023 recruiting class. Kadyn Betts was a forward from Colorado who has some familiarity with Minnesota and committed to Ben Johnson.
We have learned today that Betts is going to forgo his senior season to enroll a year early and will be with the Gopher team this fall.

With Betts coming to the 2022 class and being eligible to play right away, the Gophers are using up all 13 scholarships for this season and will officially have 3 available for the 2023 class.
According to Marcus Fuller of the Star Tribune he averaged 22.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.6 blocks per game last season as he lead his Pueblo Central High team to the state semis.
Betts will come in as a 6’8” forward who can play either forward spot and will have an opportunity to be a part of the rotation. He will be part of what is now a 5-person freshman class with Betts, Braeden Carrington, Josh Ola-Joseph, Pharrel Payne and Jayden Henley.
