Minnesota Basketball: Three keys to beating San Francisco and how to watch

The Dons and the Gophers, can Minnesota win?

NCAA Basketball: Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Minnesota Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

San Francisco Dons

Record: 4-2
KenPom Rank: 78

The Dons have consistently been in that second tier of the West Coast Conference and this year is no different. A team that is right there behind St. Mary’s in the WCC and will be fighting with Santa Clara for a potential NCAA Tournament bid. Can the Gophers put a ding in that resume and maybe boost their own?

Force turnovers and score - Not exactly a strength of ours, but the Dons have been turning the ball over a lot this year. Getting some easy baskets from turnovers will go a long way toward a win.

Keep Mogbo off the glass - The transfer from Missouri State is leading the Dons in scoring and rebounding. Keep this guy in check, and off the boards.

Get good looks from three - And then obviously make them, but running offense well enough to get some good looks would be great.

I’m really enjoying this Gopher squad and I’m going to go with a win on the road. San Francisco is not terribly efficient on offense and they’ve lost a couple close ones to just OK teams. Why not us? We’re just an OK team.
