Scouting Report

Johnson will play tight end at Minnesota, but in high school he played wide receiver and defensive end, which is not a combination you see often. It speaks to his unique combination of size and athleticism. As a pass catcher, Johnson’s length gives him a wide catch radius and allows him to catch passes in traffic down field. I expect the biggest hurdle in his development as a Big Ten tight end will be in his run blocking, of which there is very little in highlight reel. But he has the physical tools to be a formidable pass-catching threat at the tight end position for the Gophers.
