Penn State wide receiver Cris Driver announced Sunday after his recent official visit that he will be transferring to Minnesota. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
The son of former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver, Cris was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. He signed with the Nittany Lions over offers from Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, and a number of other Power 5 programs. Cris started his college career as a cornerback during his redshirt season at Penn State, before transitioning to wide receiver this year. He only appeared in six games this season, primarily on special teams, and caught one pass for eight yards.
This feels like a lottery ticket for the Gophers. The talent and potential are there. It’s a matter of whether Minnesota wide receivers coach Matt Simon can mold it. He’ll have three years to do it.
